Why did Jesus perform miracles?

This 40-day devotional chronicles miracles Jesus performed as He lived on this earth. You will see Jesus performing instantaneous miracles in front of many witnesses—demonstrating God’s kindness and concern for the afflicted. Be moved by how Jesus interacted with people, and see how—in a moment—Jesus changed their lives and glorified His Father in heaven.

Each day you will read Scriptures that record the miracle, and then go deeper with a devotional reading, reflect personally and journal thoughtfully, and mediate on an insightful truth about the Lord Jesus.

Experience the richness of Jesus’ marvelous works and discover anew God’s overwhelming love for you.

Cheryl has a deep, quiet, yet vibrant faith for our Lord Jesus Christ. Her kind heart, poignant words, and clear insights to the truth scripture reveals are very apparent in her writings. Her time studying Jesus’ miracles to write this devotional is not only evident on every page, it’s truly a reflection of the author’s genuine and humble character. Not only will you get a glimpse of her heartfelt and steadfast love for our Savior, you will encounter Him in a new and exciting way each day!

What a pleasure to commend the Miracles of Jesus to you. Two millennia ago God revealed Himself to man through the incarnation of His Son, Jesus Christ, using miracles to convey the truth of Christ’s identity as God in the flesh to all mankind. I am grateful to my friend and Sunday school classmate, Cheryl, for bringing these miracles to the fore of our hearts, minds, and souls, for God’s revelation to man continues to this day. Hebrews 2:1-4. Through both devotional and scripture study, Cheryl takes us on a journey to examine Christ, the living God, as He impacted the world during His brief years of earthly ministry, and as He impacts the world today, offering the exclusive gift of salvation to all who would believe. I am grateful that God placed Cheryl and me on a journey together that crossed paths for a number of years at Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria, Illinois. Cheryl and her husband, Tom, were always faithful members of the church, bible studies, choir, Sunday school, and committed themselves to the body of Christ in fellowship with their brothers and sisters. It is a joy to witness Cheryl spreading her love for the Lord through this expression of her saving faith in Jesus Christ. I know that Cheryl’s love for the Lord has driven and empowered her to produce this devotional/study, and it is her singular desire that all may grow in their faith through the study of Christ’s miracles. Thank you, Cheryl, for sharing your gifts with us, and for your love for Jesus which touches each of these pages.

I felt quite honored that Cheryl asked me to write a character reference on her behalf. This opportunity gave me the chance to reflect back on our friendship over the past twenty years. In addition to being a devoted Christian, she is a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. At the loss of her much-beloved sister, I watched as Cheryl turned to God for strength. She expresses joy and sorrow through her poetry, and I am the proud owner of one written just for me. Cheryl has reached out to her community with great compassion. She has done volunteer work at the pregnancy center. She didn’t just volunteer time, Cheryl gave her heart. She took a deep interest in the lives of many of the women there. Before long, she was planning baby showers to bless the new mothers. I remember the colorful pinafores Cheryl had sewn to send to the mission field. She was so careful to make every detail perfect. Her comment to me was, “I have to make something for the boys, too”. Although Cheryl has moved from Illinois to Georgia, our friendship is connected heart to heart. Whenever we get together, it is as if we were never apart.

I have known Cheryl Sharpe for several years and found her to be a wonderful Christian lady. She is giving of her time and talents to those in need and never asks for anything in return. I worked with her on the movie the Champion, where she again served with the utmost integrity. She is a loving wife to her husband, Tom. She certainly has a servant’s heart and is a fine model for young ladies to follow.

I have known Cheryl and her husband for more than six years and have completed landscaping projects and yard maintenance for them during this time. Cheryl’s love of the Lord shows in her desire for natural and beautiful landscaping; creating a little bit of heaven on earth. As I have noticed professionally, she is prompt in responding to the needs of her yard as well as to other people and organizations within her community. She loves the Lord, and it shows in her actions. Her integrity and attention to detail make it a pleasure doing business with her.

I have had the privilege of getting to know Cheryl over the past several years. We have enjoyed friendship, Sunday school fellowship, as well as serving in several ministries together. I am so excited to see her beautiful work in print. She has been given such a gift from the Lord and now she is using it for His glory. I know it will be a blessing to all who read it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl Sharpe in the spring of 2009 when my husband and I joined the Sunday school class she and her husband were members of. Immediately, Cheryl impressed me as being a very welcoming, warm and gentle soul. As I began to know Cheryl on a more personal level through Sunday school activities and bible study, I found Cheryl to be woman of exceptional Christian character. She has a humble spirit, never wanting recognition for her countless kind and generous acts. Cheryl has a sweet and tender servant’s heart. She is always looking for opportunities to serve rather than be served. She would much rather give than receive. Cheryl is also a strong leader in the many organizations she is involved in. Never quick to answer or pass judgement, she offers biblically sound, godly, wise counsel to women when asked. She is compassionate, loving, and respectful of everyone she meets. A woman of grand integrity. Over the last six years I have had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with Cheryl. Her friendship to me has been a tremendous blessing.

I was excited to hear that Cheryl was writing a devotional on the miracles of Jesus. For the believer, Jesus’ miracles are a constant reminder of his supreme power while foreshadowing the greatest of his miracles: Christ’s death and resurrection. Cheryl does a terrific job in guiding the reader on this journey into Jesus’ life and lordship, illustrating the importance of Jesus’ miracles and their significance to the gospel.
Last summer, I had the pleasure of working with Cheryl on the movie Champion. Champion is a story of faith and fatherhood as the lives of two men intersect - each struggling to find forgiveness. Cheryl served faithfully as our production office coordinator. Her loyal and willing spirit was a breath of fresh air as she helped our team organize the overwhelming task of producing a feature film. We desire to see many lives changed, as Champion will release to theaters in the spring of 2017. This would have never have been possible without the dedication and hardworking spirit of crew members like Cheryl.
I believe the acts of miracles serve as a road map to Jesus’s ministry. In Mark 1:15 it tells us “Jesus performs many miracles, demonstrating his power over nature and spirits, and thus confirming that the Kingdom of God is at hand.” Let Cheryl’s insight and passion for Jesus guide you to discovering Christ’s compassion for humanity. It is my prayer that Miracles of Jesus will provide rich insight and bring comfort to your soul!

C. K. SHARPE enjoys a big cup of hot coffee, a roaring fire, and a great inspirational book. She has brought her love of the written word to many aspects of her life: from school and local newspapers to writing devotionals and a Bible study.

She currently resides in Georgia with her husband, Tom. She has two grown children, is the proud grandmother of seven, and is the owner of a loving Keeshond that is always at her side.

Her gift of faith has enabled her to be an encourager and doer of the Word. She spent many years as a Sunday school teacher, an advocate in children and teen grief ministries, and a participant in community outreach projects that encouraged others to put their trust and hope in Jesus, no matter their current circumstance. As a volunteer for several worthy organizations during her life, she has shared biblical principles through Bible studies for mothers and written vignettes for children. This support helped them to connect, build character, and make a difference in their community and schools.

She has found that joy through Jesus Christ really does begin in the heart. Through Him, she is living an abundant and satisfying life.
